The City monitors wildlife activity and works with state agencies to ensure public safety. Residents play an important role in reporting unusual behavior or sightings of less common wildlife such as bears and mountain lions. Prompt reporting helps biologists track animal movement, assess public safety concerns, and determine when intervention is needed.
The following behaviors should be reported to Animal Control or the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
- Aggressive wildlife behavior
- Bears or mountain lions within residential areas
- Injured wildlife
- Repeated sightings indicating habituation
