The City Manager is appointed by the City Council and serves as the City’s Chief Administrative Officer.  The City Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City and ensuring that City Council policies, priorities, and directives are carried out effectively and efficiently.

The City Manager works closely with the Mayor and City Council, City staff, consultants, public agencies, and community partners to support City operations, implement Council direction, and advance the City’s goals.

Responsibilities

The City Manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the administration of City departments, programs, services, and operations;
  • Implementing policies and direction established by the City Council;
  • Preparing recommendations for City Council consideration;
  • Identifying opportunities to improve City operations, policies, and procedures;
  • Coordinating special projects, studies, investigations, and reports;
  • Managing the preparation and implementation of the City budget;
  • Supervising City staff and coordinating consultant services; and
  • Representing the City in coordination with outside agencies, community organizations, and regional partners.

Certain responsibilities may be assigned to other City staff members or consultants, but all such work is performed under the direction and supervision of the City Manager.
