City of Hidden Hills General Municipal Elections
The Hidden Hills City Council is composed of five members elected at large on a nonpartisan basis to serve four-year overlapping terms. Municipal elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years, with three Council Members selected at one election and two at the next.
The Council is the legislative and policy-making branch of City government. It is the Council’s responsibility to enact ordinances, resolutions, and orders necessary for governing the affairs of the City, to approve or amend the annual budget, to authorize contracts on behalf of the City, and appoint the City Manager and the City Attorney.
The Mayor, a member of the City Council, is selected by the Council to serve a one-year term and acts as the City’s official representative for legislative and ceremonial purposes.
The Mayor serves as the presiding officer at City Council meetings and is responsible for executing official documents and legal instruments. All Council Members share equal authority, and the Mayor does not hold independent administrative authority.

* Due to a vacancy on the City Council in March 2025, the City Council appointed resident and former Council Member Stuart Siegel to serve the remainder of the term. The original term runs from November 2024 through November 2028; however, under state law, the appointed member serves only until the next general municipal election in November 2026. At that time, the seat will be placed on the ballot for the remainder of the term (a 2-year term ending in November 2028). The seat will then be contested again for a full 4-year term in November 2028.
The City will hold two separate at-large contests: one for three (3) 4-year seats and one for one (1) 2-year seat. Candidates must choose to run for either the 4-year seats or the 2-year seat and may not run for both.
