On August 20, 2026, the Hidden Hills City Council sent a formal letter to Southern California Edison (SCE) addressing repeated unplanned power outages tied to the Valdez substation, which serves both Hidden Hills and Calabasas. The Council is asking SCE to bring the substation up to standard — including equipment upgrades, active monitoring, a documented maintenance plan, and a direct communication line with City leadership during outages.

SCE has been asked to respond in writing within 10 business days. The City will share updates as SCE responds.
