The National Weather Service’s latest briefing (Saturday, July 18) points to a warmer, drier stretch of weather arriving Tuesday, July 21, and continuing through Friday, July 24, along with continued high surf at area beaches. What to Expect

Heat: Near-normal temperatures continue through Monday. Interior highs climb to 88–100°F Tuesday, peaking Wednesday through Friday around 92–104°F. A Heat Advisory may be issued later in the week if conditions warrant, with the warm-up potentially continuing into next weekend.

Fire Safety: Conditions stay seasonally typical through Monday. From Tuesday through Friday, lower humidity and breezier conditions mean fires that do start could spread more quickly than usual — a good reminder to stay on top of routine fire precautions, not a sign of an active fire danger warning.

Beach Conditions: South-facing beaches will see elevated to high surf from Sunday through at least Tuesday, with waves building to 5–8 feet and strong rip currents, driven by swell from a passing tropical system.

• Limit outdoor exertion during peak afternoon heat, especially Wednesday–Friday
• Keep pets and horses cool, shaded, and hydrated
• Maintain defensible space and brush clearance on your property
