Healing Our Watershed: Malibu Lagoon Restoration Celebration

Southern California lost nearly 90% of its coastal wetlands in the early 20th century, including much of the original Malibu Lagoon. What was once filled and altered has now been thoughtfully restored into a thriving ecosystem.

Learn about the history of the site, and hear how restoration efforts have improved habitat, water quality, and ecological function. The lagoon now supports a vibrant mix of plant and wildlife species and reflects what is possible through dedicated environmental stewardship.
